IMHO: Iron is one of the most valuable parts of a rig. Save them. Put them up on EBAY, take to Hamfest. I am currently building a 3KV supply using 2 X 250R rectifiers, 3KV supply I just re-built changing over to the SS 866 replacments, and a 500VDC supply at 400ma for my 1950 Multi-products A54H xmtr. 
There are people out here building stuff and in need to xfmrs, chokes & HV oil caps.
