[Milsurplus] IERC shield types & suffixes

Looked over some IERC shields today. The no-suffix, B-suffix and H-suffix types all seemed to have the same liners with a multitude of little fingers, similar exteriors, and all had the holes in the lower skirt meant to engage the bumps on the traditional metallic finished twistlock shield bases. I can't tell what the differences are, really.

Wayne
These two links will tell you more then you want to know about heat dissipating tube shields. The first probably will answer your questions, the second is a collection of articles which does a deep dive into tube cooling shields.

Don't know about the IERC type H but the IERC type B was designed to replace the JAN tube shield entirely and was used for new designs. The IERC type TR replaces the shiny JAN shield but uses the JAN tube socket base.

The basic sizes of IERC shields are encoded in the type numbers such as 6020,, 2015, etc. but I was wondering if anyone knows what the significance of the suffixes are. I've seen shields without suffixes as well as suffixes B and H. Google has not been very helpful on this.

Thanks & 73,
