G'day all
some of the early HROs were also bought by the Swiss army in the late 30ies and inspired design work in the then leading Swiss RF-comms companies.
On the following website (not mine) is more information (in English) on these purchases and some outside pictures:armyradio.ch/radio-e/e-610-e.htm
As a consequence there were two designs in Switzerland around 1940 called E-39 by Autophon, Solothurn and E-41 by Zellweger of Uster. They used the original US made National capacitor and drive, copied the concept but had different tubes and coil sets. Note that the E-41 includes a real frequency dial in the coil box.
Again turn to the armyradio website:
armyradio.ch/radio-e/e-600-e.htm
armyradio.ch/radio-e/e-601-e.htm
My own E-41 has been refurbished and works, a picture gallery which shows the insides as well can be found on my website here:

Just click on E-41 Receiver and download the .pdf file.
Best regards to everyone and have a nice weekend
