I haven't but I know someone who does this regularly. His first name is Paul, and at the
moment I have forgotten his call, but it is a W0 call. He has said that the drag-wire makes a
HUGE improvement in signal strength with his back-pack rig.

I also read just this morning of another ham who was operating on 75 meters with a mobile
antenna of some sort which had a very large mag-mount.

When he mounted the antenna on the side of his vehicle so it was horizontal and about 3
feet above the ground, obviously operating NVIS, signals which were at the noise level (S-5)
with the antenna in the vertical position, were +10dB over S-9 when it was horizontal.

He switched it back and forth several times just to confirm that the effect was real.

It was.
