Hi

From talking to some of my counterparts over the years — the Russian defense electronics industry
changed a *lot* once they got “feedback” from Afghanistan. Much of what they had been doing really
didn’t hold up as well in the field as it should have. A lot of the changes were pretty minor, but they did
get the upgrades and fixes done. If one is shopping at hamfests for ex-USSR gear, go for the date codes
*after* Afghanistan .
