Very interesting Tom. 

I saw many different kinds of surplus aircraft radio gear on commercial fishing boats in the 60s. One outfit on the Gulf Coast sold modified BC 191/375 xmtrs that were repainted in hammertone. Another sold modified SCR 269 ADFs. 
Unmodified APN 4 and APN 9 LORAN A sets were installed on hundreds of fishing boats.

Never knew freighters also carried aircraft mil surplus radio gear.
