Does the "dogbone" cable shrink with time, 
or is this the wrong power supply?

Look between the two units at the mount.  
Is the idea to remove one of those two 
brackets so the web straps that hold the
units down on the mount can be installed?
I know you can't push the metal parts of
the web straps through the gap.
