[Milsurplus] [Boatanchors] Something Refreshing

I am astonished that any place can have a real store selling components and make it. I do not understand the economics.
I saw so many in the Seattle, both surplus and retail, go under. 
In greater Seattle, there's one left, Vetco. I'll have a look at their page, maybe, to try to divine how they stay up.
Vetco's owner is the son of the owner of Radar Electronic, long a Seattle staple, and of Western Nut & Bolt, a surplus store.
( Yeah, odd name. ) I used to work for Mac, the owner. I have for a long time wanted to do the history of Seattle area 
surplus shops and also of the Radar Electric empire, which at one point included marine electronics repair shops from
Alaska to Oregon. Sic transit gloria mundi....
Legend has it that Mac McPherson started his store with money from a successful medical malpractice
suit after an operation. Maybe that's just legend.
