OK, I got it out. I had to pry the case a tiny bit and spray a little bit of WD-40 where the inside of the case meets the railing of the receiver. That did the trick, although it was still a chore.

I'm trying to start working on a Hallicrafters R-44, the airborne version of the S-27/S-36, and I can't get the thing out of its case.
I removed the two small screws on the top and loosened the two retaining screws on the back, but it won't budge. I've had a couple of these in the past and I've always been able to get them out with a little effort. There's just nothing to hold onto or to get leverage from.
Any tips, suggestions etc.?
As always, thank you for your guidance.
