In this case, real.  It's to you, at an account you have associated with 
the group, and with a valid link.

I've had it happen to me a couple of times, as well.  Click the link, I 
don't recall what happens after that, I think it's just a "Thank You" 
notification, and all is well again. The .IO system is very intolerant, 
unlike yahoo, which would allow bounces for years.
