Something that I believed to be true, and did seem to be true in practice, when I was working as a telecom technician:
the gremlins are immature, childish beings, imps. They can do tricks, but they lack the staying power, the resilience of
the human. So, you basically have to exercise  patience, endurance, focus; you can and will outlast them, and then you win.
A line from "Island of Dr. Moreau" comes to mind, not entirely fitting, but…:
"For are we not men?"
