[Milsurplus] Way OT -- Rice Boxes

Hi Ken,

When I install the new hardware and get it up and running I will have
the radio I paid for AND *I* will have the secret code to make it go! I
dislike layers of menus too. It was bad enough with that radio setting
memory 'channels'. There was that with memory channel scan functions and
the digital timer to set a memory channel and turn on the record channel
to feed a tape recorder. Primitive, early digital futz. I suppose if I
have the 'proprietary' code a few extra features won't be too bad. It
will still be basically a CW/SSB/AM HF/MF receiver. I'll see how
uncomplicated I can make it. I have the lab specs from Ten Tec on it and
it is worth recovering.

And that RX moves the thread closer to the mil aspects of this list. It
is more or less a civilian version of a Ten Tec Navyreceiver. Ten Tec
sent me the dops on that radio when I asked for info. I have had to
repair it a couple of times before.
