Well if anyone has a desire to stay a little closer to the workbench
than entering a credit card number allows, building a uBitx might be
worth considering.   It's a plain vanilla 80-10 meter dual conversion HF
transceiver that is fully assembled needing only mic, speaker, power
supply, and enclosure .   The open-source Arduino-based software
provides some nice features and is infinitely adaptable, and there's
already an active user community as this is based on the Bitx series
that's been around for a number of years.

Mine's still in transit, but I talked to WA4VAG a week or so ago on 60
meters with a very good signal on his with the PA running on 24 volts
for added output power.   A full HF radio on a 6" square PCB is a radio
hackers dream!  And while there's been talk of raising the price, the
website still shows it at $119 including shipping from India.
