" I can offer one clue.
Once tore apart a BC-375 long ago that had been converted to marine band.  I know that for a fact as it had a crystal selector switch installed, filled with 2 MHz rocks.  Don't remember any gang bars, but this thing was already half taken apart when received.  Seem to recall is had an after market data plate, so suspect there must of been a company that specialized in the conversion of these. "
