Gleaning suggestions -: BC-348 flaky band switch fixing.....

BC-348R , OCR-T.O.-2112R2-3BC-112

I know I have a flaky band switch on my BC-348 - [Band 5]  9.5 - 13.5Mc
; If I fiddle the band switch this band comes alive with hiss... and is
still tuned u,p since WWV;  @ 10MC | still touches the needle Indicator
a bit on the high side.

I have ordered Carig Deoxit Gold to clean  and protect the contacts:

Are the band switch contacts, silver plated?

1. To Clean contacts : Should I try Deoxit D5 somthing stronger, before
using Deoxit Gold  : reference: http://store.caig.com/s.nl/it.I/id.5/.f

Deoxit D5,   Is it to strong for the contacts?   Any thoughts wold
be most helpful:

2. Will follow the instructions on Page 5-4 paragraphs 10, 11 to
determine the offending sage;

Any thoughts on procedures, got-U's,  wach-out's, wold be most helpful
on how the "clean" the switch contacts with out breaking things.   I
have 4 cans to investigate 1RF 2RF Det Osc    I suspect a loose switch
contact, Pincher,  as I can rock the band 5  and get "normal" reception,
audio.  This wont be easy.

Thanks

Hutch
