[Milsurplus] RBA RBB RBC receiver multicoupler

Minor corrections:

 

NAVSHIPS 91469 including Change 1 covers RBB-5 & 6 and RBC-5 & 6.  The related manual on RBA-5 & 6 is NAVSHIPS 900,708.  There are other manuals covering RBA through RBC-4.  

The drawings on page 3-9 only mention the RBA in conjunction with an installation using transmission line.  However, if your one antenna is coax fed, it should be treated as a transmission line installation, not an antenna installation.  At the time (1951), an antenna connection meant a single conductor lead-in and a random length end-fed wire antenna.  Each of the receivers originally shipped with one concentric (coaxial) connector and one single-wire connector.  I have never seen one of the latter adapters.

Why use a patch panel to switch antennas on your RBA,B,C?? Navships 91469, the manual for the series of radios has a section on connection of the radios for single radio single antenna, or single antenna, multiple radios.  The information is on page 3-9 of said manual…

Folks

I have been fortunate to have this nice receiver lineup however I am using an 3 position antenna switch to make the connection from my rf bnc antenna patch panel

 

I saw an article written by a british ham about using an Extron DA2 RGBHV wideband video distribution amp in lieu of rf multicouplers for my 3 navy receivers

 Has anyone tried this ?   Those units are always on ebay and are inexpensive. I wonder how well they handle weak signals, nearby transmitters, IMD etc? I oredered one and will let everyone know how it performs

 

What about using Extron Ultra-Wideband Matrix Switchers for RGB and Stereo Audio as a crossbar switch to route and select multiple receivers to multiple antennas?  I realize they cannot be used for transmitting. 

 

By the way I echo the comments about the magnificent beast RBC.  Its smooth tuning , its squelch/silencer and noise limiter circuits really work. The audio filter in the sharp mode is great for crowded CW signals.
