[Milsurplus] Writing Stand MC-300-B ?

It’s actually MC-308-(*) including –B.  Used with RC-58-(*) tape fax machine.  At transmitter, was used to write message.  At receiver, was used to read it.

"Signal Corps Writing Stand MC-300-B"  1943 contract, abt 8 x 8 x 1 inch, inside has roll of what looks like TTY paper tape and two rollers. What is it ?
