I believe beam power tubes derived from the British "Kinkless Tetrode"
or KT- family of tubes. The 807 is essentially a 6L6 with a plate
cap, and the 6L6 was derived directly from the British design. The
physical distance ratio between the cathode, grids, and plate, the
alignment of the turns of the control and screen gris, as well as the
shape and placement of the beam forming plates are part of the
"formula". All of this is devoted to linearity, inter-electrode
capacitances are rarely of any concern in audio circuits. Does a tube
with a sharp grid characteristic that "snaps" on and off do better as an
oscillator or is a "gentle" and smooth characteristic better?
