[Milsurplus] AN/TRC-10 Puzzlement, continued

Here's more I read last night:
Pilot Radio wanted to go ahead with production based on the 'model' they had already delivered.
The Signal Corps wanted a number of changes. The manual, IIR, is dated March 1945. These
conferences took place in the span April 2 to May 19 1945 according to the paper I have. Among
the changes were to change the RF amp and audio amp ( ! ) to 6SG7. Clearly these changes were
not done in any TRC-10 we have seen. The last doc I have, dated 5-19-1945, titled "Transmitter
Parts Urgently Needed for Models RV8". The quantities of parts indicate that there were to be
6 "models" built; i.e. pre-production test samples. It seems to me likely the project was abandoned
at this point: no need for the radio. What about the ones out there, we have seen ? Were these
all pre-production sample "models" ? That would seem to be a surprisingly high survival rate for
a very low production number.
I have about 50 pages from these conferences. I will eventually scan them, but the pages are all
darkened and I just can not invest time in that project now.
