[Milsurplus] AN/ARC-2A Available Soon- Dallas Area

If the ARC-2 receiver section is indeed similar to the ARR-15 receiver then the RX passband can be narrowed by replacing the IF transformer coupling capacitors with a value considerably smaller then the stock values.  Don't have an ARC-2 manual and a search for a pdf version didn't find anything but rumor has it that the two receivers are related.
I have successfully narrowed the ARR-15 IF doing just this.  Haven't tried using gimmick capacitors but the capacitor values needed are 1pf or smaller so they are easily realized using gimmicks.  The formulas for calculating the IF bandwidth are found in the Radiotron Designers Handbook, 4th Edition.  If there is interest, I can find the chapter and verse.Jim

Good on ya, David. I've always thought the ARC-2 was a very interesting and useful rig,
despite its lack of selectivity.

And yes it IS "rather large". ;-)

I understand that many (most?) were used in transport aircraft like the C-47.
