This Saturday I plan on being out at the Annual Delaware Goes to War Open House event at the Fort Miles complex. At the least I intend to take part in the noon Moose and Squirrel Cold-War Clandestine and Long-Range-Reconnaissance-Patrol Net on 5357 (USB) and would be available for any other operations from that location.
I will be dragging out the M151 mutt with GRC-106, VRC-12 and VHF/UHF radios on board and in addition to HF will be monitoring 51.0 FM simplex.
The event is geared towards WW2 but they do tolerate a small contingent of Vietnam - Cold War people that will be relegated to a sub parking lot or perhaps a different part of the park.
Mr. Smith, K4CHE will be there with a period correct WW2 display and radios and is expected to be on 3885 AM and I will attempt to also operate on that push just running the seventeen foot whip on the mutt.
This will be my second year at the event and recall that it was fun operating there last year and am looking forward to it again this time. As always anyone who may be in attendance from this group is welcome to stop by, operate the equipment or if interested have the opportunity to come out and put there field radios to use in the field. Not to mention that the local group that host this event has a very impressive facility that includes a large assortment of Coastal Artillery, a huge bunker system including plotting rooms and there 16" gun.
