[Milsurplus] Tinsel cord

Some time ago, someone mentioned here that there was some outfit somewhere in the U.S.
which made "tinsel cord" wires to a special order.
I need at least one which reaches from one headphone across the top to the other
headphone as the only one I have here measures 54 ohms resistance, which seems
excessive to me.
I could replace it with some zip-cord and some small brass tubing, but the constant flexing
seems to break the stuff, always at "critical" times, even when it is crimped and not
soldered. Soldering it makes it break far sooner.
Anyone?
I am trying to build a set of decent headphones here. Sometime ago, I managed to buy
some unused chamois type of cushions which work very well.
The only thing that I find odd about these is that the "milled slots" in the rubber for the wires
to the phones are obviously designed for headphones in which the wires are UNDER the
chin of the wearer. I've never seen a set of such phones in the "flesh" but have seen photos
of them.
My present 'phones, which have tear-drop shaped rubber cups and ANB-H1A elements
recently failed in that one of the ANB-H1A elements opened up.
