Is this a reference to the November, 2010 video from a news helicopter? Thought that this was a trail from a jet airplane since there is no radar signatures of a fast moving object reported by either the Air Force or FAA.https://www.truthorfiction.com/chinese-sub-catalina/
Evidently there is nothing to back the missile theory up but it is still a good story!

You know, the Chinese launch space probes, move a ballistic missile submarine off the coast of California and launch a missile without being detected, but they can't build a cell phone charging cord that lasts more than a week. Go figure.
