It seems like this readership is going to go for existing transmitters with VFO mode.
Is anyone building from scratch? If so, I suppose they would use a synthesizer or programmable oscillator.
I have some "MF band" crystals in the 470-500 kHz range. They are in very strange packages, a domino-like
thing, and were made for mounting flush to the chassis, and screwed down to some fastener-contact.
Would some of those crystals appeal to MF band operators? What specific freqs, if any?  
These are from the 1935-1940 design era, I think, and probably Mackay or RMCA. ( I don't have them on 
hand to look. )
