Prices overall were very good, Joe. Even cheap in many cases next to prices
from even a year ago. There were a few of the 'ebay investment' prices but
as usual, they went back with the seller. Numerous items got given away as
well, like the lifeboat radio. I gave away a nice BC-221 with the built in
AC supply and a cool Motorola VHF tube weather radio.
In all honesty, while this fest has always been known as a target-rich
environment since the days of the Hosstraders, this particular event was
indeed chock full-o-goodies. With so few coming along behind us who are
truly interested and most of us continuing to age faster than we can get to
it all, a lot of excess gear or untouched projects are showing up, more and
more each year. While I'd stop short of calling it 'dumping', there
certainly seems to be a sense of 'sell it while you can' in the air. Aside
from the occasional rare item or someone upgrading via ebay, prices
continue to drop like a brick. The fellow who picked up the HT-20 for $200
also bought a decent SX-88 this past spring or summer for $350. The seller
had paid $1K some years back.
Now that I've figured out how to remove photos from my phone, I'll post
more results from 'fests back east when I can. Nick has been carrying the
weight alone for too long. (o:
