I have one of these in my stash. It was made for the FAA
who called it a modulation monitor. It consists, as I recall,
of a single range oscillator, using either the fundamental
or harmonics, a diode mixer and an audio/video amplifier.

It was never intended as a receiver per se, just a device
to demodulate an AM signal for analysis.
