I have browsed  the MN 31 manual and it mentions that the ADF function doesn’t work on the MN 26 variant bands above 1500 KC. 

Many surplus USN boats were bought in late 40s and converted to fishing boats: LCVP, Captains Gig, Motor Launch etc. All were negative DC ground as far as I saw.

Amazingly the cheap “one way” LCVP plywood boats outlasted the “permanent” plank hull boats. And the “one way” LCVP’s cheap 2 stroke 671 diesels far far outlasted the “permanent” BUDA 4 stroke diesels powering the plank boats with many WW2 surplus 671s still running in 2017.
