There's an interesting WWII beacon receiver on the e place right now, item
number 152780138742:

At first glance it appears to have similarities to the BC-1206. Also, from
previous postings on this list I am led to believe the switch selection of
either variable tuning over 200 - 400 KHz or a fixed frequency of 278 KHz
is a feature of the Setchell-Carlson Model 512 (R-76/ARR-13).

This set however is only half the length of a BC-1206 and has only 2 tubes.
It was designed to work with the AR-15 receiver, one of a number of radios
that were unique to the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. The
AR-15 is extremely rare, I have never seen one. This tuner appears to be RF
amplifier and oscillator/mixer stages only. Despite the volume control on
the front panel it does not have detector/audio stages.

I also have one of these little beasts sitting on my workbench, can any of
you learned people supply any information on it or the companion AR-15
receiver?

Regards to all,

Tom Brent
