Range quoted is a pretty typical number for the US 16” 50 caliber stuff. The
real answer there is often “that’s as far as it was worth trying a shot” 
rather than any a real “furthest you could go” number.  The Army had similar
numbers to the Navy on very similar equipment. The only trick seemed to
be that there was a bit of a one up process on the range numbers as time
went on …..
