Yeah, but that probably applies to regular infantry, not just airborne.
I don't totally get this. It wasn't to make for ease in jumping, was it? Didn't this stuff, like the GRC-9 radio itself, go in a padded drop bag?
If the short gen legs were an advantage, why not issue them throughout the Army, maybe in addition to the regular legs - seat combo ?
