No  strictly  to   do  with    Spits  or   Mustangs  but    historical
local  flavour  from  OZ.

 Not  in  crates,  but  available if  you  knew  the  ropes.  back in the
late 60's    I  was  introduced  to  a    chap in  Hong Kong  who  sold
ham  gear--- a  Phil  White if  I  recall ,
He  had  access to  what  the   USA   was unloading  from  Okinawa or
there abouts   and    the upshot was  I managed to   import 2   container
loads of    gear  including  R-390A   and  the other variants plus test
gear  of the  age  , much of   which  was   still boxed.
Now  all  sold off  of   course.

Manuals  for    R-390A  were  never   available    and   even  a   visit
to   open  day  at  a  military  base where a  R-390A was  on  display  ,
my  request  for a technical   background  got  me  the response  that
item  was  still  classified.
Somehow   I  got the  address  for   the   Document  repository/printing
in   Washington  (I  think)  and   asked  about  manuals......  Reply
was   'how  many  would  you like "?
