Dave, i know the routine: you have the side of your head flat to the floor, and you look or anomalies on the surface, wondering if that's just a discoloration or
a shadow or what?  The traveling screws, like rodents, have an ability to seek out the cleverest hiding places. 
I like your solution technique!
Proves again that altho we're not as fast as the gremlins, we can win by outthinking them, or just outlasting them.
