just gave the guts of one of those away. Forget who made it but the
cardboard was shellaced or impregnated with a very stiff liquid which
when dry would take a lot of punishement and was like being coated
with plastic. 
 Part of mine contained an aneroid connected by a lever arrangement
that as the aneroid expanded it moved the arm of a variable resistor
and altered the frequency of the modulating tone applied to the
oscillator. Certianly remember thousdands appearing on the market
after WWII.
