Here’s another interesting one, from p 343 of the book “Kamikaze Hunters” by Will Iredale, about the British Navy fighting in the Pacific 1945

which says:

…

just a week after the end of the war, the American Congress abruptly shut the door on lend-Lease, leaving Britain with a bill of millions.  The British government had to return Lend-Lease aircraft, buy them in dollars or destroy them.

Around 1,000 Avengers and Corsairs which had formed the strike force of the Royal Navy’s most powerful fighting fleet in history were take out to sea on carriers and dumped over the side, where they lie today off the Australian coast.
