Hello, Hue.
Yes; the capacitor as connected will eventually
destroy the switch contact. You can move
the capacitor to the other side as suggested
or, since we're not cranking away on a 
generator, I suggest the best answer is to 
simply disconnect the capacitor. It will do
no harm to the operation of the set.
