I saw the error but didn't have time to respond. I built a power
supply using connectors ordered from Bendix and used the TA-12G for
ten years before selling.Used cathode keying and as I recall a 10H
choke in the keying lead to cut down the clicks and removed the
vacuum antenna relay. It worked well on 80/40M and had the sound of a
crystal controlled rig.
Had the modulator but never used it and used a 6Y6 in clamp tube
modulation ( cathode) imnstead as it was cheap and simple but not as
efficient. The various combinations of antenna circuits, by switching
capacitor combinations was very clever and a match to everything but
a wet noodle was achievable.
The TA-12G had 4 channels with separate vfos and was always tempted
to try the LF channel which tuned to 500Khz although penalties were
severe for misuse in those days. The plate modulator offered high
level modulation and any TA-12's I heard in this mode sounded very
good. They appeared to have a spurious emission around 6Mhz when used
on 75M so a separate antenna tunes was very wise.
I have seen the transmitter that Hu's photo depicted but can't
recall where.
Fun memories.
