[Milsurplus] Northern Electric 252 inside

Here is a photo inside the Northern Electric ( Seattle ) radio I bought.
There are 5 crystal sockets for transmit only.
The receiver is tunable.
I don't know how that was to be used, in real life. Seems like it would be moderately inconvenient
if you were instructed to switch to a different channel and wait for a message. There is no spotting
or net provision!
You can see the radio is a pretty basic receiver + 6AQ5 PA and looks like 6AQ5 modulator. Mallory
Vibra-Pack is the power supply section for 6 volt operation.
