This may be a bit off course from the current topic but....the other night on one of the sub channels here in the SF Bay area on terrestrial TV the channel "GET TV" was playing an old Westinghouse Studio One TV show from around 1957 - 1958 titled "The Night America Trembled" It was a TV adaption of Orson Wells famous War of the Worlds radio broadcast.

Anyway there were scenes in the show showing a police station receiving frantic calls about the Martian invasion....in the background ...what looked to me to be was a real early GO-* radio . it wasn't a -9...but it had a tubular metal frame work around it that looked like it belonged to the GO set...and somewhere I vaguely recall seeing a photo of a radio set with this tubular frame around.

Anyone have a clue....or by chance saw the show and and the radio also.

It was commonly used to set either to a specific frequency. It was the frequency standard.
