Hi Dave,
I know this is not the solution you are seeking but.... I believe you said
that your goal is to make at least one two way contact with the BC-9. You
also eliminated irreversible mods to the BC-9 as a possible fix.
Well, your situation caused me to think back to my Novice days in 1955. It
was not unusual for a Novice to have a QSO when the station being worked was
2 Kc, sometimes more (yes, I'm going to use Kc for now), than 2 kc off your
transmit frequency.
Why don't you set up a sked with someone close (for starters) that has a the
equipment to work split (OMG , a separate RX and TX!). You call him on the
BC-9.likely you're transmitting some delta in freq from where you will be
listening. If you can reasonably measure the delta and sent the delta as
(pse xmit down (or up) X kc, the station you set the sked up with will
transmit on the freq you're listening to and listen to you on the freq
you're transmitting.
Like I said up front, it's clear you would prefer to have the BC-9 receive
and transmit on the same frequency. At least with my suggestion, you could
find out if anybody can hear your mighty 1 watt of RF. Might even be fun
working split. :-O.
