I have been contacted by a ham in Oregon who has a rather "interesting" German radio for
which he would love to find some information, other than what he has, which isn't much.

Here is what he told me this morning:

"Made approx 1960-67, German, GDR (East Germany?) for their police,
army and border guards. Info and data tried to be kept secret. Hybrid,
subminiature tubes and transistors, very good receiver ssb cw am, 1.5 to
22 mHz. Low voltage 2 levels battery pack, attached; 1.2 v filaments
(?)...Pretty much certainly designed to be rugged and portable and for
hard use in the field! 13 kg probably including its ni-cad battery
pack...
Apparently the Poles stole it, likely several or a bunch of them, for
their uses...
Thinking we should find someone fluent and technically knowledgable
of radio insides German, Polish would help maybe also, -and English. Who
can navigate those web sites and sources ( .de and .pl ) There almost has
to be some library/archive!"

Anyway, that is all I know at this point. I've asked him to provide me with as many good
photos of this thing as he can come up with. I'll pass on to the list anything I learn.

In the meantime, does anyone here recognize this thing?
