[Milsurplus] Navy DF set question

Amelia had a DF on her plane, but I don't know if it covered the 
frequencies she was using. Does anyone know if the Itasca was 
transmitting back to her on HF, or using LF the way airfields did at the 
time?   Her  deadly equipment mistake was to discard the trailing wire 
antenna. With it her range would have been far better and the outcome 
likely very different. She, her life, and her aviation feats have 
fascinated me for decades.
