If one design quirk is the less than perfect attenuation of filter F components, one test might be to bridge the F output cap 0.001 with a couple more caps
and see if that diminishes the t - r offset any. That would be a clue that this is the right track.

Dave, face it:  this set may NEVER have "worked as intended". I suggest it always may have been crippled by unsolved problems
and never was a big success. We know from the manual the previous model, the SCR-77-A, was no major success either - its
limitation was, you couldn't really operate more than two of them in a net.

What do you think about using a BC-221 set on the "correct" transmit frequency, and using it to retune before transmitting?
