Well, I am reading the manual. The TCK is an interesting rig. It actually weighs about 100
lbs less than the BC-610s I have used in the past, but is far more complex.
I find the grid-modulation scheme to be particularly interesting. It seems to me to be a rather
big waste of resources. ;-)
I get an almost, "Why bother?" thought in my head while reading about it. 75% modulation
at best with 15% distortion is certainly not the best use of the resources, it seems to me.
Secondly, it seems to me that stability of the MO would be improved by simply
voltage-regulating the oscillator tube's screen, rather than using dropping resistors.
Then there are "issues" with the MO boxes internal blower fan. Apparently, there were
nearly constant problems with the motor bearings and with lubrication of it.
I can hardly wait to get this thing into my shack and in operation.
The keying system is interesting. I cannot see using the normal 115 V keying circuit, but
we'll see. I don't have either a 6-wire or a 4-wire remote control system here.
My favorite mode is CW, so I am looking forward to using this thing on the air.
I wonder how many of the TCK series were used, and where they were used. How many at
fixed locations for instance?
The original AC supply is a real hum-dinger. Huge, heavy, complex. I'm kinda glad I don't
have one.
