BTW, i  reread recently a post by Jack Antonio on the RU receiver use. He advised that even with using the RU with an LF coil and a downconverter, the selectivity was still
not very usable. So that's a correction to my suggestion to simply use a down-converter; it's not a viable idea. Jack did mention using regeneration in the RU rf stages but 
that he didn't like that approach either. I recalled my less than favorable experiments with regenerative IF stages. But i think maybe an external 2-terminal Q mulitiplier,
something like a controlled Franklin oscillator, connected across the first RU tuned circuit, might be a whole lot less fussy and more stable.
