There was a civilian version of the TBY that was marketed to utilties and public service and forestry organizations in 1940 as the Westinghouse Model HH portable UHF receiver-transmitter.

The USN/USMC had a set of compact four-channel, crystal-controlled, MF/HF, 25w, A2/A3-only receiver/transmitter sets for small craft in their MO and MAK series of equipment.
