For years now I've been saying (to my family, coworkers, etc.) that records
of our modern human society and its accomplishments will be unrecoverable
500+ years from now because our recording media are not durable or even
accessible (Can you still play an 8-track tape today?)  Bring on the stone
masons.

When Discs Die...


CDs were sold to consumers as these virtually indestructible platters, but
the truth, as exemplified by the disc rot phenomenon, is more complicated.
