OK. I have a friend, Scott Gray W7IZ, who says that Astoria, OR is about 1 hour away from
his place. He told me that if I win the bid on it (I have NOT yet decided whether or not to bid
on it), he will bring it to me in April, since he is going to drop off a large home-brew amplifier
for me to convert to full-QSK for him then, when he is on his way to Wisconsin (?) and back.
So, just how big is this thing?
According to the specs I find on it, it weighs around 230 lbs, which isn't all that heavy for
such a rig. The BC-610s I used for a number of years weighed over 400 lbs each.
And, BTW, I have all the tubes which would be used in it.
Trouble is, my shack isn't all that big, and I may have trouble finding a place to put it.
In addition, of course, I will have to deal with my wife about having another piece of radio
junk.
So, if I "rescue" this TCK-4, I would prefer it to NOT stay here but that it would eventually go
to someone who "needs" it. It WOULD be nice to be able to preserve another piece of
military history. I take it from the chatter on this list that there are not too many of these left
in captivity.
Tell me what you think.
Thanks, and vy 73 for now,
Ken W7EKB
