[Milsurplus] RU coil G substitute or ?

The RU coil G for 3000 - 4525 kHz seems to be not so easily found, at least in my stock. I think all the receivers i sold singly over the last few years,
i must have supplied with one G coil.
I wonder about the H coil. 4000 - 6000 kHz. You could "maybe" pad this down to 3700 or so, without too much trouble. But - i think maybe the
oscillator stage, which operates at ½ f, might not track correctly? Making CW operation problematical ?
What think?
I still think the best approach, if you want to use this set on AM, is to use it at LF, and with a single MOSFET converter from 80M down to LF.
You then have 3 tuned circuits at LF, selectivity on the scale of a beginner radio like the S-38, but a lot more usable on HF.
