Yes less than $20 per box...they came from all over the country. Many UPS stores will pick up for free just to make the RETAIL cost of shipping. At the time, I was living out in the sticks of NW Arkansas nowhere near a big city with a UPS shipping center. For that matter, not near FDX or any other major shipper. 
I once palletized 270lbs of 2" recording tape and DHL picked it up at my front door and delivered it to London, GB. Buyer generally pays the shipping, so cost $$$ doesn't matter to me. 
Packing can usually be done personally better than the shipping "professionals". If, you have the space, time, materials, etc...
