[Milsurplus] RAK RAL Shipping

Bill, I have been shipping equipment since around 1980, but until recently, I was pretty much able to scrounge all packing material and boxes,
and I do mean "all", by living in the big city and by reusing materials from work. I became kind of a connoisseur of cardboard boxes, no foolin.
But those sources are out for me now. Paying for shipping is not a problem for me, but it may be for my Ebay buyers, and I still do hate to pay
a premium to ship things I swap, altho to save time, I sometimes do.
The Styrofoam sheet mentioned by another post, I assume are the white sh*t. I hate that stuff and I always toss it. Awful stuff. We don't have
a big box store here, but I'll look for the pink sheet next time I go.

For some reason, this shipping thread suddenly reminded me I had sent a German WW2 radio magazine on loan, to Americanradiohistory dot
com in California, a couple years ago. Despite reminders and a stamped large envelope I sent him, it seems he prefers to ignore me and hold on
to it. "Your integrity may vary".

Hi Hue,

Obtain a Uline catalog by going on line. Uline.com. They sell all sizes and weights. You should purchase at a minimum of the large boxes 15- 20 or so as the more you purchase the cheaper shipping is per box. I think you are referring to the white Styrofoam peanuts. Don't ever use them for anything over 5 pounds. Uline sells large rolls of bubble wrap that is good for items - again read the specs. For heavy items I use the "pink Styrofoam insulation sheets that come in 1 inch, 1.5 inch, and 2 inch thickness. They are 4 x 8 foot sheets purchased from Home Depot or Lowes. They are then cut to fit the boxes so things do not rattle in the box. If you are not familiar with packing, talk to someone that is. If used incorrectly you will break things. I have shipped over a hundred boat anchors in the past few years and have only lost one - when fed ex stabbed a box with their fork lift. They paid. Be prepared to spend some bucks up front if you are going to ship many items. If not - have UPS or FEDX pack them for you.

73,

Bill
